This work is based on three words: Salvador Dalí, the Mediterranean and Empordà (where Salvador Dalí spent most of his life).
To create an environment for this piece, to understand both, the influence over Dalí’s work and the effect of his work on our perception of his homeland, I went all over the coastal Empordà picking up samples of all the natural material I could find: water, soil, slate, plants,... so that I would be able to capture them in the hues of leather to be used. I also stayed in Dalí’s Museum for a week to become part of the setting and to understand how the visitor engages emotionally with the venue.
The result is a piece that represents a giant wave on wheels constantly winking at Dalí character, his perception of eroticism, his distortion of objects, the strength of landscape as a determinant, the influence of the sea on people. Drawers coming out of the body with handles specially made for the piece. A surrealistic world inside the surrealism represented in the reality of nature.
